Without Faith It Is Impossible To Please God!

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
(Heb 11:6)

The author of Hebrews is telling us here that we must have faith in God.  We know this is true but what does it mean to believe that He is.  Well, we know that when God visited Moses at the burning bush he told him his name is, I Am.  When they came to arrest Jesus He said, I AM.  So He Is, is another form of the name I AM.  To believe that God is, is to believe that he is the sum total of all that you need to be everything He called you to be.  If we are going to come to God we must believe that He is the answer and that we are not.  We can't come to God with all of our own ideas of how to do things and ask Him to bless them and expect to be rewarded.  He says that He rewards those that diligently seek him.  That means we have to set aside our own ambitions and seek the will of God for our lives.  God does use our talents and abilities for His glory but we must first submit them to Him and allow His Spirit to humble us and receive the grace that comes from knowing He is.  So today, put your faith in God and what He can do, not in your own abilities.

Exceedingly Abundantly Above All We Ask Or Think....

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
(Eph 3:20-21)

If we want God to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think we need to allow his power to work in us!  In context you can see that Paul is talking about the love of Christ.  If we will receive Christ's love and come to experience it for ourselves the power of God will be working in us.  You see the bible tells us that God is love so there is no greater power in all the earth.  However, God does not love any person more than another.  Also, he cannot give any more love than he already has.  So it is up to us to experience this love for ourselves.  We must fellowship with God and receive the love he is pouring out on us!

His Grace Is Enough

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  (2Co 12:9)

The Apostle Paul learned about God’s Grace.  In Corinthians the Lord tells Paul, My Grace is sufficient.  No matter what Paul was facing, and even though he desired so severely for this pain to leave him, he found out that Grace was enough.  Think about that today.  If you are seeking God for relief from a situation and you are believing He will bring that relief, will you receive a word from God that His grace is enough?  We want the circumstances to change.  For Paul he had been through so much.  In the chapter before this Paul writes of all his hardships.  He went through shipwrecks and beatings and insults.  He was tired of all this stuff and was crying out to God to relieve him of his pain.  Sometimes, we need to remember that God’s grace is sufficient.  If we are truly obeying God’s will for our lives, then we can’t rely on circumstances to lead us or show us the approval of God.  We already have his approval and we can make it through any circumstances if we will simply rely on the Grace of God and not on our own understanding.

Grace and Truth Our Foundation

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
(John 1:14)

Jesus Came and brought us grace and truth.  Without His grace it is impossible to understand the truth He brought us.  Grace empowers us to receive all that we need from God.  By Grace we are saved.  This truth alone causes much contention in the Christian world.  Of course, most Christians will agree that the bible is true and we are saved by grace.  However, so many times there are more rules and regulations put upon a person to determine if they are truly saved.  The church in general has taught that we must live a good life and obey the word if we are going to be saved.  It is true that we must obey the word to be disciples of Christ and to live a life that is full of God's best.  However, the basis for receiving salvation and receiving anything else from God is not how well we live, but accepting the ultimate sacrifice made for us on the cross.  This is the Grace of God, that He sent His son to take our place and accomplished a work that we could never accomplish, and then gave us a life that we could never earn.  When we realize that all that we obtain from God comes by Grace, it causes His truth to be of much more worth.  It is of such great value that we could never pay for it and can only be full of gratitude for the grace that was offered unto us and the great gift we have been given.  When we look at things through the eyes of grace we should desire to do more for God.  Not so He will give us more but because He has given us everything!
